     1. Define the term fossil fuel and give several examples.  Discuss threee reasons why it is important for the United States to become less dependent on fossil fuels.

    2.  Does the Earth's surface look the same today as it did 250 million years ago?  Explain your answer using the theory of plate tectonics.

   3.  Explain the energy transfers involved when you rub yuor hands together to keeep them warm.  (Hint:  Start with the food you eat!).  How can you extend this explanation to show that the energy originated from the sun?

  4.  Describe 5 main differences between a plant and an animal cell.  Make sure that you refer to their organelles by name, describing both their function and location in the cell.
